How to Add Emoji to Your Blog Posts

As the Emoji Queen (self-appointed title), it is truly impossible to communicate feelings and reactions without emojis. For real. I did receive a book of little-used words for Christmas (Thanks, Leslie!) that might help me to remedy that situation, but for now -- How to add emojis to your blog posts and they actually render.

Step One: Visit

I've blogged about this site before.

Step Two: Click an emoji icon.

I choose .

Step Three: Click the Title Link.

When you've clicked an emoji, the Title Link to that chosen emoji appears just above the emoji categories menu. Click that link. For my emoji, this is "Face Throwing a Kiss."

Step Four: Scroll down.

Once the specific page for your emoji has loaded, scroll down to General Emoji Information. A chart shows the emoji style for various screens - iPhone, Android, Twitter, Google. etc. I typically appreciate the Twitter renderings best of all.

Step Five: Copy Emoji Image Address.

 Within the chart, right click the emoji version you'd like to use on your blog and "Copy Image Address." This used to be "Copy Image URL." Not sure when that changed....

Step Six: In your blog editor, change to "HTML" version.

The button is located next to "Compose" at the top left of the screen.

Step Seven: Insert the code.

In the spot you'd like to add the emoji, enter the following code
<img src="   " width="20px">

Step Eight: Paste the Image URL.

Inside the quotation marks for Image Source, right click to Paste the emoji image URL. In Blogger, be sure to Preview the post to see how the image will actually render in your post.

Pro Tip: Be sure to preview the layout!!

The Blogger editor does NOT appear the way the post will look published on your blog. 20px makes it fit perfectly inline with the text on my blog, but you may want to adjust that number to make the image larger or smaller to fit inline with yours.

That's it!

Happy Emoji-ing!

Sarah :: Plucky in Love

Sarah, aka "Plucky", blogs on the reg, unless she's on vacation or there's a Pretty Little Liars marathon or she's mulling over the implications of the phrase "on fleek." She can't live without iced coffee, a portable phone charger, or equal pay. Say hello!

  1. Ahh! That's so fun! I'm going to have to check it out!

  2. YES! I love this!!! I can't wait to try it out!

  3. This is a life-changing moment. Thank you thank you!
