Five Habits of Lifestyle Bloggers -- A Guide for Their Nonblogger Friends and Loved Ones

Let me set the scene: You're not a blogger but you know one. Maybe you live with her or you went to school with her or her desk is next to yours at work. At some point, you have coffee or go on vacation or attend a wedding with this blogger you know. Be prepared because you can pretty much bet that these 5 things will happen.

5. She'll carry equipment.
This could be a notebook or a note app on her phone, a selfie stick, a bottle of nail polish, or a to-go coffee mug -- pretty much at all times. She'll always have that "little blog hobby" in the back her mind and you might get asked to, "Here. Hold this while I get a better angle" before the day is over.

4. She'll look down at her phone with a big goofy smile that turns out to be blog related.
A biggo blogger or major brand just retweeted her! A new blog comment! She just gained new followers on Bloglovin! Her Instagram post is getting WAY more action than usual! If you're hanging with a blogger, be ready to celebrate little victories at the drop of a hat.

3. She'll ask you to take her picture.
Trust me. She feels way weirder about asking you this than seems possible but she's committed so...  Oh, and the more photos you take, the more you have to choose from. So...maybe a few more poses?

2. She'll tell you a story about a friend of hers and then get really awkward when you ask how they met.
Because she's telling you about a BLOGfriend. This is sort of difficult to explain because she knows SO much about this person's life whom she has never actually met IRL. And yes, she may distinguish her groups of friends as In Real Life or Bloggy. It won't seem so weird after a while, so hang in there.

1. She'll get what she needs for the blog and then promptly dive into the experience.
Yes, of course she wants the perfect photo to showcase the concert, but once she gets it? Get ready to rumble. Once she's seen to her bloggy duties and feels good about her forthcoming content-rich post, you won't be able to drag her off the dance floor. Think about it. Why does she love blogging about her life so much? BECAUSE SHE LOVES HER LIFE. And now you're reaping the benefits. Sit back and enjoy the ride. If there's one thing a blogger knows, it's how to live it up in such a way that's worth writing about.

Sarah :: Plucky in Love

Sarah, aka "Plucky", blogs on the reg, unless she's on vacation or there's a Pretty Little Liars marathon or she's mulling over the implications of the phrase "on fleek." She can't live without iced coffee, a portable phone charger, or equal pay. Say hello!

  1. Hahahaha #2 all the time! I start telling a story about a friend and then it comes to "what friend" and I have to break into the blog-friend discussion and try not to feel super weird. I talk to bloggy friends more than IRL friends now a days so they get inter-mixed in discussions! Loved this post lady. Happy Friday!

  4. #accurate. My friends are used to taking whatever photos I ask them to now, but it's definitely awkward in the beginning—especially when I go into a yoga pose in some random location.

  8. Hahahaha, all of this!! I'm definitely the girl who goes weird when someone is like "oh, so how did you meet?"
    "Um, well, we haven't actually met in real life, but you know, that's totally okay and we are still super close." Confuses people every single time! x
