The Dog Days

Today marks the true start of the Dog Days of Summer. Long before Florence and the Machine were making sweet music, we had the dog days. Those hot, humid, sticky, run-through-the-sprinkler, 'Anybody want a popsicle?', covered-in-dirt-at-dinner-time days. This particular kick-off date is sort of awesome because it's a Friday and everyone is off work and we get fireworks two nights in a row. The real celebration today, of course, is that tomorrow is the USA's birthday. If you happen to be in the states or from the states, this is kind of a big deal. I happen to be both, so double whammy! 'Merica!! I, obviously, attempted to be a professional and come up with an awesome "My nails are spangled because I'm a patriot" picture but you see how well that worked out. Have you ever noticed that everyone else's fingers look totally fine in pictures, but your own look like freakish fleshy claws?

But enough of that. Lots of celebrating on the docket this weekend. Before you go, please enjoy this crash course on the history of Independence Day by my fellow Indianapolis-ite, Mr. John Green.

Now that we're all in the know, let's party! Happy Start of the Dog Days & Independence Day Eve!

Sarah :: Plucky in Love

Sarah, aka "Plucky", blogs on the reg, unless she's on vacation or there's a Pretty Little Liars marathon or she's mulling over the implications of the phrase "on fleek." She can't live without iced coffee, a portable phone charger, or equal pay. Say hello!

  1. If it's any consolation, your fingers don't look like fleshy claws to me! Good ole John Green - can't wait for Paper Towns later this month! Hope you had a wonderful weekend!

    1. Aww, thanks! The more I look at that picture, the weirder my hand looks. haha And I still need to read Paper Towns!
