Race Prep

Blogland is really cool. I posted a couple of days ago that I was getting close to my fundraising goal for St. Jude and several of you fine bloggy ladies donated and it was awesome and I love you! Also, in a moment of slight panic, I asked Miss Alyssa about what the heck a person is supposed to eat in / on / around race day (?!) and, let me tell you, she is the person to ask. Her response was so thoughtful and excited and knowledgeable and supportive, and now I’m feeling pretty good about my race prep routine. Basically, it boiled down to this:

  • For the next 6 days, CHUG WATER like my life depends on it.
  • Eat ALL THE THINGS that are good for me and pack a nutritional punch.
  • DRINK COFFEE on race morning since I am addicted usually have a cup of coffee in the morning. ← Probably my favorite piece of advice, if I'm honest. ;)
  • Smuggle FRUIT SNACKS or some other delectably sweet and chewy treat into my fanny pack to munch on in the latter parts of the race.
  • DO NOT take the nutri-goop stuff offered by the race volunteers since I haven’t ever had it before and I really would like to avoid race-day diarrhea.
  • Lather on the SPF, which is a note to self, because I’m in a wedding the next weekend and sock lines are NOT cute or part of the bridesmaid look of the day.
  • ENJOY.
All that being said – OMG. I’m in a half marathon on Saturday. What the what?!

Sarah :: Plucky in Love

Sarah, aka "Plucky", blogs on the reg, unless she's on vacation or there's a Pretty Little Liars marathon or she's mulling over the implications of the phrase "on fleek." She can't live without iced coffee, a portable phone charger, or equal pay. Say hello!

  1. Woo, you are going to be so great! And yes, definitely sunscreen! And if you're anything like me, bring lip balm too. I can't go more than like 4 miles without having to reapply. I can't wait to hear from you after you've crossed that finish line!
