I really need to turn off the auto-post-to-Facebook option....

So, if we're Social Media buds you've probably heard the big news. And just in case you haven't, prepare yourself. Basically, since before you were born, James has been majorly jonesing to go on a cruise. Also, an interesting tidbit, he got a passport 9.5 years ago (taking bets that they won't let him back in - he had no beard and stood about 7 inches shorter back then, but who's counting?) yet has never been out of the country. Thank goodness we both had passports because that would have been the buzziest of buzz kills. ...but I'm getting ahead of myself.

So, for years now, I've listened to this constant yammering about cruises, cruise boats, cruise food, cruise locations, cruise durations, etc. but all to no avail. aka. We're still in our twenties which means we're still poor. So this cruise business is always some far off fantasy time when we're both making huge salaries. Like, when we're thirty or something. Then, on Monday (yes, this Monday),
 this happened.

WE'RE GOING ON A CRUISE. What??!! And it leaves in 4 days. It'll take us 2 days to get there. Assuming I've done the math right, I have 2 whole days left to pack, prepare Daisy and Ralph care packages (staying with family, thankfully!), drop the little nuggets off with these fine family members, contact any and all Web Design clients to inform that I'll have no internet, no email, no cell phone reception for a whole week. I keep wanting to make jokes about Santa being able to find us at sea, but I don't even have time to do it!

ALSO VERY EXCITING is the amount of visiting we're getting to do on our way down! We're driving the 17+ hours to Ft. Lauderdale, which means we'll swing through Nashville, TN for dinner with Cassie B., then stop for the night in Macon, GA. Next morning, it's early lunch (brunch, if you will) with MACKENSIE FREAKING G. AHHHHH OH EM GEE. Then it's a pit stop in Leesburg to see our former neighbors who moved in September down to this place of paradise, and then our last fateful hours on down to the port. I seriously can't even.

At this point, I'm sure you're asking yourself, "Sarah. What the heck does any of this have to do with the title of this blog post?" And you, my friend, are about to find out. I'm getting just a wee bit personal to tell you that I am terrified of an upcoming event related to this cruise. This little "appointment" will be a first-time experience for me, and I've been encouraged to take Tylenol 20 minutes in advance because "that's how long it takes to kick in." Also, if all goes well, it'll be smooth sailing in my swimsuit for the duration of the cruise. I'm trying really hard to pump myself up for this Brazilian experience, I really am (plus, it was a Groupon so, score!), but not sure how I feel about this planned encounter to have a stranger get all up close and personal without even buying me a drink first! Any tips, my lady friends? I'm half-totally freaking out and half-really excited. Why, oh why, do I share these things with you, Internet?

In case I don't see you, Happy Christmas, Harry!

Sarah :: Plucky in Love

Sarah, aka "Plucky", blogs on the reg, unless she's on vacation or there's a Pretty Little Liars marathon or she's mulling over the implications of the phrase "on fleek." She can't live without iced coffee, a portable phone charger, or equal pay. Say hello!

  2. Yay! That is such exciting news :) I can imagine you both are over the moon excited. Good luck with your appointment -- I've never been to one so I don't have any good advice. Maybe drink a glass of wine beforehand?
