Just a little *pinch*.

Isn't it crazy how things that seems to "pinch" at first can kind of change the whole ball game?
Lately, our budget has sucked. As in, since August our budget has sucked. We were a bit optimistic about the apartment we could reasonably afford and pretty much spent the next 6 months griping at each other because we couldn't afford Q'doba or Starbucks. #FirstWorldProblems

Fast forward to March/April and low-and-behold, we were able to sublet our apartment (I legit thought this would be impossible. And we found a real live non-serial killer on Craigslist?? What?!). We were able to change internet providers, power providers, commutes to work, and the biggun - a much more affordable apartment.

Easily what many would call a "pinchy" situation. If my life had a heel, this situation would put mondo blisters on it. Lots of other important life changes happening in this timeframe as well. I found a part time job. My sister came to stay with us. We got a puppy. James's car decided it was done with life and just

Whoa, with the pinching.

Fast forward again to last night.
Our budget still isn't something to dream about at night, but it's WAY better. And things are calming down a bit. The pup is finally potty trained and is out taking walks on the Monon. Q'doba is a regular thing once again, and this makes all right in the Land of James.

A new car is on the horizon, and it's intimidating the snot out of me to have TWO car payments coming our way, but we should definitely be able to make it work. Besides, I got a Starbucks card for my birthday (in May) that I'm still milking, so hey.

Things are coming together. And there's quite a bit less griping. And I've grown as a person, as a partner, and generally just older and wiser. I hate hate hate the pinching times, pennies or otherwise, but gosh darn, do they end up feeling worth it!!

Not perfect. Not even close. But it's life. MY life. I'm pretty okay with that. :)

Sarah :: Plucky in Love

Sarah, aka "Plucky", blogs on the reg, unless she's on vacation or there's a Pretty Little Liars marathon or she's mulling over the implications of the phrase "on fleek." She can't live without iced coffee, a portable phone charger, or equal pay. Say hello!

  1. good luck with the car hunt... and the little pinchings. they are sometimes never ending, but it sounds like yours are getting a little better :)

  2. You go, girl. I'm glad you have such a good partner to go through it with. I cry into my beagle every time I feel the pinching (like, a lot). One day I'll find my James and my balance ;) Thanks for being my role model. xo
