The one charm of the past is that it is the past. ~ Oscar Wilde

The past is a funny thing, you know?

Memories are great fun, and often much more enjoyable in the retelling. Good times spent with friends or in a special location or in critical moments of development. We've got stories about our childhoods, our teen years, our coming-of-age, our post-21 years, right up to present day.

Regrets kinda blow, and most of us have a few.

Some moments we long to relive again and again. Others we wish had never happened the first time around. Thinking of past relationships and friendships is bittersweet, isn't it?

In the midst of all this remembering [and regretting], I'm coming to realize that, while not every moment in my past has been the most stellar, it's still mine. My shenanigans, proud moments, huge fights, first times -- they are all mine. Regardless of anything else, I'm so glad to have these things in my past because they make up my life.

...and are helping me to determine which sorts of memories I'd like to have in the future. :)

Thoughtfully Yours,

Sarah :: Plucky in Love

Sarah, aka "Plucky", blogs on the reg, unless she's on vacation or there's a Pretty Little Liars marathon or she's mulling over the implications of the phrase "on fleek." She can't live without iced coffee, a portable phone charger, or equal pay. Say hello!
