Working for a Living

Maybe I'm the only person who feels this way but when I have a lot of work to do and it's satisfying and I get to be creative and solve problems and help devise a plan of action, I really really love my job.

Sure, days that are slow and easy are nice and I'm VERY glad to have them. But on those occasions when the creative juices get flowing and I feel like a real difference is being made? On those days, my heart sings.

I gripe A LOT about grad school. I know that. I also recognize that I am so fortunate to get to go and to be studying something that will allow me to help people and promote causes that are important to me and feel good about my work every single day for the rest of my life.

Maybe I've mentioned it before but my Master's is in Philanthropic Studies.Big words that mean I'm learning how to write grants and develop marketing plans and understand (hopefully a little anyway) the law as it relates to nonprofits as well as the history and culture and significance of philanthropy/charity/nonprofits in our society. When it's all said and done, it's a pretty sweet thing to get to know, you know?

And I'll admit that.
When it's all said and done.
[I'll have it in December if all goes according to plan!! woot!]

I have statistics class Thursday so I'll be whining and crying about grad school again in no time but for today, getting to work on plans and goals and strategies for promoting this museum has been such a treat! It's frustrating and difficult and there are so many expectations from so many different places, but I think it will be worth it!

I can never find the quote I want when I want it but today I'm thinking of one that says

Be thankful for the worries/struggles you have today
because they result from things you used to
only dream about being able to do and now you're doing them.

Someone else articulated this much better than I but I hope you get the idea!

Keep following your dreams, my plucky piquettes! [and griping as you go is totally allowed]

Sarah, aka "Plucky", blogs on the reg, unless she's on vacation or there's a Pretty Little Liars marathon or she's mulling over the implications of the phrase "on fleek." She can't live without iced coffee, a portable phone charger, or equal pay. Say hello!
