Summer Lovin'

Oh, summertime, how I love thee.

Last week, I started to get back out on the track and came across a couple of tween girls walking and giggling and being 13. Each time I passed them, they would cheer and clap and give me a thumbs-up. Even through my blaring headphones, I could hear shouts of "You go girl!" "You get that track!" Hilarious.

The next day as I headed that way, I saw those same girls in our complex walking on the sidewalk. Turns out they live in my neighborhood and they continued to crack me up. I got more encouragement as I continued toward the track. Call me crazy, but I love kids and the simple ways they view life. I'm sure I'll run into them again soon. High five!

On that same note, as you may know, my drug dealing neighbors finally moved out back in March. The maintenance crew worked extensively to get that apartment back in living order. A little over a month ago, our new neighbors moved in - a family with three little girls. We introduced ourselves as they were unpacking and carrying in the big furniture.

A few days later, we got a knock at the door. The two older girls, probably 8 and 6 years old, wanted to tell us that they thought we were beautiful. As we chatted with them, our front door standing open, they caught a glimpse of Ralph. "You have a cat?! We want a cat!!"

Last week, they got home from a soccer game and I had a nice chat with their mom while the youngest (probably 3-ish years old) called out "Cat! Cat!" until I opened the door and let them say hello to Ralph.
Now, I see them outside playing all the time and they always want to see the Cat!

Yesterday, heading towards the track, I passed by the girls playing with a group of kids near the playground. The baby girl came flying at me from across the field with her arms in the air calling "Hug! Hug!" Her sister was not to be outdone and insisted on a hug too.

Oh my gosh. My heart is melting.

I love the time I spend with my own little nuggets when I visit home. Little girl cousins are such a treat [think: rock star status] every time I see them. I miss them when I'm back up here in the city.

Now, it seems I've adopted a few new little girl cousins and I couldn't be happier.

So, as the title suggests, I'm thoroughly enjoying my Summer Lovin'. ♥

How's your summer so far?

Sarah :: Plucky in Love

Sarah, aka "Plucky", blogs on the reg, unless she's on vacation or there's a Pretty Little Liars marathon or she's mulling over the implications of the phrase "on fleek." She can't live without iced coffee, a portable phone charger, or equal pay. Say hello!
