Shadow Boxes: Display Your Memories!

Well, what do you know? It's another Make Something Monday!

I recently found myself enthralled with the concept of Shadow Boxes, found here. As a non-scrap-booker, I tend to shrink away from anything cut-n-paste as memory savers. I don't have the fancy scissors or paper cutters or stamps and I'm always afraid to cut into anything because once it's gone, it's gone forever. [I briefly experimented with digital scrap-booking last summer. way more up my alley]

I spent about $15 total.

A set of 3 shadow boxes at Big Lots = $12.

I picked up some tacks and straight pins, 2 mailer envelopes, and double sided tape at the Dollar General. I already had some colorful paper and an extra large picture frame on hand.

Since I wanted to pin my souvenirs, brochures, and receipts in the boxes, I stabilized the background page by cutting the mailer envelopes into squares and taping them the back.

Then it was time to sort through all of my goodies! I made three separate boxes, one for each country we visited. I had receipts from my birthday, the cork from our wine in France, postcards, and all kinds of other good stuff. This is my Ireland box,
before     and     after.

The final products are the bomb!! I love them so much and I can't wait to find a place to display them! Shadow boxes ftw!

I hope you get a chance to try it for yourself! These are such great fun! If you give it a try, be sure to let me know. Pictures are always welcome.

Sarah :: Plucky in Love

Sarah, aka "Plucky", blogs on the reg, unless she's on vacation or there's a Pretty Little Liars marathon or she's mulling over the implications of the phrase "on fleek." She can't live without iced coffee, a portable phone charger, or equal pay. Say hello!
