Got a Minute?

Pondering the close of a year and the start of a new one... Happiness is one of those elusive things we always think we'll find by keeping our resolutions and seeking contentment. What if Happy Endings, though, don't have to wait until the end of our lives? What if we count the happy ending of a minute, an hour, a day? This is happiness within our reach, right? To live one minute happily, and experience the happy ending? And then repeat.

They say, "If you want to hear God laugh, tell him your plans." Read: Your plans are going to change. Plans are a necessary part of life, but then so is flexibility.

So maybe if we quit trying so hard, quit pushing, quit beating ourselves up when we aren't happy (because this really doesn't do anyone any good. makes it worse, actually), maybe then we'll be on to something.

I stumbled across this quote today on
The Quote Garden (love!) and I am inspired.

If you observe a really happy man you will find him building a boat, writing a symphony, educating his son, growing double dahlias in his garden, or looking for dinosaur eggs in the Gobi desert.  He will not be searching for happiness as if it were a collar button that has rolled under the radiator.  He will not be striving for it as a goal in itself.  He will have become aware that he is happy in the course of living life twenty-four crowded hours of the day.  ~W. Beran Wolfe

I don't know what tomorrow holds. I don't know how the rest of this hour will go. It is all unknown. What I
do know is that right now, I'm happy. And I just can't question it, analyze it, ask others to approve it. It just is. Thank goodness for that.

Sarah :: Plucky in Love

Sarah, aka "Plucky", blogs on the reg, unless she's on vacation or there's a Pretty Little Liars marathon or she's mulling over the implications of the phrase "on fleek." She can't live without iced coffee, a portable phone charger, or equal pay. Say hello!
