I think she's my soul sister, minus the whole NKOTB thing...

The Single Woman's Dash of Sass: Better to Be a Nerd Than One of the Herd!

Quote of the Day:
“Celebrate being a dorkDorks change the world and end up being pretty damn cool.” ~@TheDailyLove
The Single Woman Says:
I am nothing if not a dork.
Don’t let the stilettos and makeup fool you...underneath it all beats the heart of a dork. I’m a massive bookworm. I love to read. I am happiest when I am surrounded by books. I will never trade the magical experience of reading a book for a Nook. I am a movie nerd. My collection of DVDs is obscene…and what’s more, I’m one of those people who actually listens to the director’s commentary. I like to sit and watch the credits roll at the end of a film to pay respect to everyone who worked so hard on the movie. And one of my biggest joys in life is a box of Junior Mints, a pair of fuzzy socks, and a Lost marathon.
I’m also unabashedly and unapologetically addicted to the New Kids on the Block. I mean, I adore ALL boybands and give them all props (namely N’Sync and Backstreet Boys)…but as a child of the 80’s, my heart has always and will always belong to those five bad brothers from Beantown Land. I have been known to travel to see them. I was over the moon when I had the opportunity to FINALLY meet my biggest celebrity crush, Donnie Wahlberg, in September. And through my NKOTB adventures, I have made some amazing friends who have made my lifelong love of NKOTB even MORE special. So when someone sends me a message telling me how I need to stop “desperately chasing” the NKOTB, I take issue with it. I am single, I have no obligations to anyone other than myself, and I can live my life however I want to. If that involves sending the NKOTB silly, dorky tweets (from my personal account) or going to NYC for an event or flying to the MOON to see them if that’s what I want to do, I’m gonna do it, and I’m not gonna apologize for it.
I have never pretended to be some tres chic girl who is too cool for school and so far “above” all my readers that I’m too superior to be susceptible to a celebrity crush or a childhood dream. I think that’s a big reason why you relate to me…because I’m human, because I’m REAL, and because I’m not afraid to be a dork.
So to all you people who don't have a clue where you’re going, but feel the need to give everyone else directions, I say: Stay in YOUR lane. Be you. Do you. Take care of YOU. I’ve got ME covered. And to everyone else: Let your freak flag fly. Be as wildly colorful, inappropriate, silly, irreverent, brash, sassy, and feisty as you dare. If it’s dressing up like the Twilight characters to go see Breaking Dawn...do it! If it’s staying up all night to be the first one in line to get the new iPhone...more power to you! Or if it’s something as silly as “chasing” a boyband…go for it. So what if you're a little weird? Work it! A little different? OWN it! Better to be a nerd than one of the herd.

Sarah :: Plucky in Love

Sarah, aka "Plucky", blogs on the reg, unless she's on vacation or there's a Pretty Little Liars marathon or she's mulling over the implications of the phrase "on fleek." She can't live without iced coffee, a portable phone charger, or equal pay. Say hello!
